We caught up with 10-week-old Finn and his owner, Hannah Borum, on a walk through Fowler Square after a busy day.

“We just went to his first open leash in Fort Greene Park. He loved it,” Borum said.

When they first started doing research online to get a dog, Hannah Borum and her boyfriend, Rich Mullen, looked to find a rare breed. They settled on a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but later realized it would be too large. Living on Fort Greene Place, they needed a smaller dog that could be raised in the city.

They found the perfect match in the Catahoula Leopard Dog. They located a rare red leopard pure bred in Mississippi and decided this was the dog for them.

Originally, they were waiting for a specific litter. But, when they got a picture of the dog that would later be known as Finn, Borum said they could not wait. Borum and Mullen immediately put down a deposit, travelled to Mississippi and flew back with Finn on June 8.

“He slept the whole way home,” Borum said.
