Laugh you a** off on Monday: Reservoir Tags Comedy at Bar Chord
When: Monday, January 16 at 8pm.
Where: Bar Chord, 1003 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road.
What: Start your week with some belly laughs inspired by local comedians, hosted by Alex Fosella.
How Much: Free show, but don’t forget to get drinks at the bar.

Make reading & writing social on Tuesday: Ditmas Lit reading series at Sycamore
When: Tuesday, January 17 at 8pm — then every third Tuesday of the month.
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads.
What: Writers and bookworms unite! Announcing the new Ditmas Park reading series hosted by Rachel Lyon and Sarah Bridgins, featuring writers in all genres. This month we’ll hear from Wren Hanks, Cynthia Manick, Ben Lasman, and Ryan Teitman. Check out the website for more info.

When: Thursday, January 19 at 5:30pm
Where: Green-Wood Cemetery Chapel.
What: Join death educator Amy Cunningham for a unique history event about cremation. Learn about its origin 32,000 years ago and how it impacts the way we process death today. Includes a tour of the Green-Wood crematory.
How much: Free

Go on a local-themed date: History and Wine Tour at the Kings Theater
When: Thursday, January 19 at 6:30pm
Where: The Kings Theater, 1027 Flatbush Avenue between Tilden Avenue and Duryea Place
What: A great date-night at the restored Kings Theatre — a happy hour, historic venue tour paired with a glass of the theater’s best wine (does the theater have good wine? Let us know!) Must be 21 + and one glass of wine (white or red) included in the ticket.
How Much: $25 each

Make yourself happy on Friday: ‘Alternative to watching it happen’ at Hinterlands
When: Friday, January 20 from 1pm to 4am.
Where: Hinterlands Bar, 736 Church Avenue at East 8th Street
What: We all know what day Friday is. Many throughout the city will be taking action — either with boycotts or protests. But for those craving distraction and escape, Hinterlands is showing a roll of cute animals on both of our screens, all day and all night.
How much: Free animal videos, but don’t forget to buy drinks at the bar.
