Pedestrian Killed Crossing The Street In Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG – A man was killed by a truck while crossing the street last Friday afternoon, January 11.

At about 5 p.m. last week, a 46-year-old man was driving east on Maspeth Avenue in his 2015 Ford Pick-Up. He then made a left turn into Vandervoort Ave and struck a pedestrian crossing the street mid-block on Maspeth Avenue.

The truck hit 51-year-old Jose Rube and left him with injuries to the torso and head. The driver remained at the scene and Rube was taken to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the medical examiner, Rube died because of injuries sustained as a result of the collision.

The NYPD has not made any arrests yet and the investigation is ongoing.
