Participatory Budgeting Comes To District 38 Thursday
PB Expo1

Over the past two years, residents in Park Slope have seen the benefits of participatory budgeting, and the time has come for those in Council Member Sara Gonzalez’s District 38, which makes up parts of South Slope, Greenwood Heights, Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace and Red Hook, to reap the rewards of democracy in action.

If you’re looking to do more than just vote, consider joining the district committee, whose first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, 783 Fourth Avenue at 27th Street.

According to Council Member Brad Lander’s office:

The district committee envisions goals for the process, helps community members suggest ideas and develop proposals for potential projects, and oversees the completion of these projects. Through communication with all the neighborhoods within our district, and outreach to community members about project ideas, the district committee members work to ensure that the participatory budgeting process is as inclusive as possible.

RSVP to Miguel Hernandez, mhernandez2@council.nyc.gov, by Wednesday, August 21 if you would like to attend.
