Park Slope & Windsor Terrace Named Among Top Neighborhoods To Raise A Family
Slope Park Opening Big Swing

Though it may be a bit of a stereotype, it’s always nice to be reminded that we live in an area of New York City that is great for bringing up kids. So when real estate site Brick Underground recently put together a list of the top 10 NYC neighborhoods for raising a family, we weren’t surprised to see Park Slope and Windsor Terrace among them.

They say Park Slope is made up of just 27% families (the jokes about the neighborhood might make you think it’s closer to 100%). And while the strollers and scooters littering the streets is a clear indication that this is a nice spot for raising children, the housing can, of course, make things difficult.

“If you want to have more than two kids, you might be priced out because it gets very, very pricey — or if you want to have a lot of space,” Hanna, a mom of two, told Brick Underground. “That does narrow the scope of who lives here or how long you can live here.”

As for Windsor Terrace, which has 26.77% families, they note that “unlike brownstone-heavy Park Slope or Carroll Gardens, Windsor Terrace has a significantly higher percentage of three- and four-bedroom apartments — and since they’re in apartment buildings, rather than on floors of brownstones, they’re often bigger than what you’d find in those spots,” though they note the housing stock is limited.

So, from a real estate perspective, what do you think — are these indeed some of the best neighborhoods in the city for raising a family?
