We’re so close to Christmas, but there’s a lot going on this week! We have big ideas in small works, a Krampus party, a Winter Solstice Celebration, and more. Don’t miss some of our favorite events from around the area:

Tinder Live with Lane Moore

Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street, at 5th Avenue
What: Tinder Live! With Lane Moore is the only comedy show exploring the crazy world of Tinder, the hot new dating app that hooks up local singles based solely on physical attractiveness. The show is an anything-can-happen interactive comedy show with helpful and oftentimes ridiculous tips, tricks, and real-time swiping (and sometimes even real-time phone calls and texting with Tinder matches)! If you’ve ever been on an online dating site, you need to see this show.
How much: $10 advance of show. Tickets available here. $12 at the door. This event will be mixed seated/standing. Arrive early for best seat selection.

How much: $9 general admission (plus $6 skate rental) per person.

Annual Morbid Anatomy Krampus Party Hosted by Creighton from Ghoul A Go-Go
When: Saturday, December 19, 8:00pm
Where: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 3rd Avenue (at 7th Street)
What: Join Ghoul A Go-Go’s Creighton and Morbid Anatomy for their 200th annual party devoted to Krampus, St. Nicholas’ cloven-hooved, chain-swinging, lolling-toungued, child-punishing Eastern-European sidekick! We’ve emptied a bag full of children to make room for all the fun! A mystery episode of Ghoul A Go-Go will be shown in a darkened room, and dust off that old Krampus outfit, because there will be a Krampus costume contest with a prize for the best! Instead of a movie, this year Creighton will be showing clips from his secret stash of bizarre holiday films! PLUS, there will be a Ghoul A Go-Go burlesque performance with special surprise guest! Hubba Hubba!
How much: $30, tickets available in advance. ($20 for members)

Smorgasburg and The Brooklyn Flea at Industry City
When: Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20, 10am-6pm
Where: Industry City, 241 37th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues)
What: Smorgasburg has moved down to the booming Industry City, which may be new territory for you. While the move was announced some time ago, Industry City is housing both Smorgasburg and The Brooklyn Flea every Saturday and Sunday until March 27, 2016. Keep in mind that Industry City is big — the entrance address is 241 37th Street. This is just two blocks from the 36th Street D/N/R subway station—only two stops from Manhattan on the D train!—and a short walk from the B35, B38 and B70 bus stops. The 39th Street exit off the Gowanus Expressway/BQE also takes you pretty much to our doorstep (and to the second-busiest Costco in America next door).
In addition for this week: “Taste of Sunset Park Pop-Up Market” will take place Saturday, December 19 from 10am-6pm. Posada (traditional Mexican Christmas party) will take place Saturday, December 19 from 2pm-5pm.

Winter Solstice Celebration
When: Sunday, December 20, 11am-12:30pm
Where: Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, 53 Prospect Park West at 2nd Street
What: Join us for our annual intergenerational Winter Solstice celebration! We will gather to share warmth, music and delicious food and drink as we acknowledge the short days and long nights ahead. Winter Solstice is a time of energy and renewal where communities come together to brave the darkness and enter into a new period of health and peace. For our gathering this year, we will focus what each of us can bring to the places in our lives, and in the larger world, that could use some light right now. We’ll also sing, light candles and cheer on our littlest participants as they raise the sun!
How much: Free.
