Don’t wait until the weekend for a little neighborhood fun! With everything from comedy and improv, to secret science and vinyl, there’s plenty going on in Park Slope this week. Below are some of our favorite events from around the area.

For even more things to do around Brooklyn, and to add your own upcoming events (some of which we’ll feature in this roundup in the future!), check out our calendar.

Beauty Love Truth With Jean Grae
When: Monday, August 17, 7:30pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Join Beauty Love Truth for an adventurous evening of music, inspiration, and comedy. This month’s guest musician, the fabulous Jean Grae, kicks things off by playing a song, and after each song a rotating cast of improvisers create scenes inspired by the mood, images, themes, or words from the song.
How much: $8, tickets available here.

Secret Science Club
When: Tuesday, August 18, 7:30pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: Every month, the Secret Science Club hosts mind-bending lectures, volatile experiments, chemical libations, star-gazing sounds, and more. This month, neuroscientists Gregory Petsko talks about the mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative conditions.
How much: Free.

BeerProv
When: Tuesday, August 18, 7:30pm
Where: Littlefield, 622 DeGraw Street
What: Comedians improvise scenes based on audience suggestions, and performers are systematically eliminated by audience vote during until only one player remains. The winner is crowned BeerProv Champion, and is given the opportunity to drink a well-deserved beer from the BeerProv Mug of Champions.
How much: $10, tickets available here.

Vinyl Club
When: Wednesday, August 19, 8pm
Where: Threes Brewing, 333 Douglass Street
What: Ever wanted to DJ? Or just share your great records with other people? Check out the Vinyl Club at Threes Brewing where you can bring your best vinyl and spin a five-song set for the bar every third Wednesday of the month.

Les Sans Culottes
When: Wednesday, August 19, 8pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street
What: Inspired by 1960s French ye-ye pop icons like Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc and Francoise Hardy, the Brooklyn-based Francophone septet’s sound captures the music’s loony essence. The band has recorded eight albums over their 17-year span.
