Park Slope Planner: The Best Events September 2-7


We know, we know — they’re all telling you that summer is over, and then the weather is hotter than it’s been all year. So keep enjoying those warm nights by heading out to a fun event in the neighborhood! From embarrassing high school tales to a jazz jam session, there’s a lot to look forward to this week. Mortified
When: Tuesday, September 2, 8pm
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street
What: It’s rare that we notice a Mortified show that hasn’t sold out the week-of, let alone two! One tonight, one tomorrow night, both at Littlefield, and both giving you the chance to squirm uncomfortably as people get up on stage to share embarrassing artifacts from when they were teens, like old journals and poems.
How much: $15, available in advance.

Tea And Jam
When: Wednesday, September 3, 9-11:30pm
Where: Tea Lounge, 837 Union Street
What: Fahie & McNeil draw some of Brooklyn’s finest jazz musicians to a meeting of the minds in this entertaining jam session.
How much: Free!

BuzzFeed Live: We Might Only Do This Once
When: Thursday, September 4, 7pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: Featuring readers Sandra Allen, Nicole Cliffe, Saeed Jones, Mallory Ortberg, Janet Mock, plus performances by BuzzFeed Labs. Hosted by Isaac Fitzgerald and Ashley Ford.
How much: $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Park Slope Bingo Club
When: Thursday, September 4, 8-11pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Stamp those cards for a chance to win drinks, show tickets, and cold hard cash. There will be multiple games through the night, and you can buy in with a $5 pack of cards anytime.
How much: Free to enter, $5 to play.

Dollypalooza: An Epic Fan Tribute To Dolly Parton
When: Friday, September 5, 11pm
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street
What: Drag, burlesque, live music, performance art, and glitter will celebrate all there is to love about Dolly Parton!
How much: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

Coffee Bark
When: Saturday, September 6, 7-9am
Where: Meadow beside the Picnic House in Prospect Park (Enter at PPW and 3rd St)
What: It’s the first Saturday of the month, which can only mean one thing…Coffee Bark with FIDO. There will be treats for dogs (and their owners), as well as information on off-leash activities.
How much: Free!

Lincoln Center Local Live Presents Hammerstep + DEORO
When: Saturday, September 6, 2pm
Where: Central Library Plaza, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: See an amazing dance performance for free in front of the library! Cutting edge choreography from Hammerstep meets traditional music and innovative live beats with hip hop flare from DEORO to create a unique presentation integrating traditional Irish step, tap, and hip hop. The performance includes a Q&A with the artists.

Food Truck Rally
When: Sunday, September 7, 11am-5pm
Where: Grand Army Plaza
What: Just because Labor Day has come and gone, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a lobster roll or an ice cream sandwich al fresco in the park — the food trucks are still here!

Simply Unemployable Live
When: Sunday, September 7, 8pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Matt Catanzano and Richie Moriarty, from YouTube’s Simply Unemployable, host a night of improv and stand-up featuring some of the best improvisers and stand-up comedians in NYC. They’ll be joined by comedian Matt Koff.
