Since the subway isn’t cooperating this weekend, why not hang out close to home? With bingo, a webcartoonists book release, a Daft Punk dance party, Oktoberfest-ivities, and so much more, there’s no reason to deal with the hassle of the train when you’ll have a great time and be able to walk home from it.

Park Slope Bingo Club
When: Thursday, October 2, 8-11pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Stamp those cards for a chance to win drinks, show tickets, and cold hard cash. There will be multiple games through the night, and you can buy in with a $5 pack of cards anytime.
How much: Free to enter, $5 to play.

Book Release Party With Jane Mai, Saicoink, And Alabaster
When: Friday, October 3, 8pm
Where: Bergen Street Comics, 470 Bergen Street
What: Meet three young webcartoonists — Saicoink, Jane Mai, and Alabaster — who are all branching out to making print editions of their most popular work. Grab a copy of Open Spaces & Closed Places 6, Sorry I Can’t Come In Monday I’m Really Sick, and Mimi and the Wolves Act II: The Den.
How much: Free!

Daft Club: A Daft Punk Tribute Party
When: Friday, October 3, 10pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street
What: DJ HOLLA! and DJ Orion Traver are throwing a party that any Daft Punk fan will get dancing to.
How much: Free!

Book Donation Drop-Off
When: Saturday, October 4, 10am-4pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: The Friends of Park Slope Library will be accepting donations for its fall fundraising sale at the library (coming up on October 25). Bring gently used books of all genres, plus they’ll accept CDs and DVDs.

Tango Lessons
When: Saturday, October 4, 10am-12pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Learn the fundamentals of one of a dramatic dance at this fun, informal series from the IATI Theater. Lessons are in English and Spanish, and there are two sessions: 10-11am is for beginners, and 11am-12pm is for advanced dancers.
How much: Free, but space is limited, so arrive early, and bring your library card for admission.

Oktoberfest
When: Saturday, October 4 & Sunday, October 5, 2-8pm
Where: Mission Dolores, 249 4th Avenue
What: Look for German beers on tap, German sausages from Brooklyn Bangers, and we can only hope for a few German Shepherds, too, at this dog-friendly bar.
How much: No cover, pay as you eat and drink.

Morning Bird Walk
When: Sunday, October 5, 8am
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Spend a beautiful morning with our park’s fine feathered friends. The walk, led by the Brooklyn Bird Club, will be on the lookout for hawks in this month’s tour.
How much: Free!

Food Truck Rally
When: Sunday, October 5, 11am-5pm
Where: Grand Army Plaza
What: Have the munchies? Stop by Prospect Park on Sunday, because there are only a few weeks left of this season’s food truck rally!

Raptor Fest
When: Sunday, October 5, 12-3pm
Where: Peninsula, Prospect Park
What: The Prospect Park Alliance and Urban Park Rangers present the free annual Raptor Fest on the Peninsula. Learn all about the majestic birds that are raptors. Hawks, falcons, owls, and other birds of prey will be on hand for flight demonstrations and more!
How much: Free!

Simply Unemployable Live: A Night Of Improv And Stand-Up Comedy
When: Sunday, October 5, 8pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Matt Catanzano and Richie Moriarty host a night of improv and stand-up featuring stand-up John Frusciante, and improvisers Joe Schiappa, Caroline Martin, Taylor Newhall, and Trevor Livingston. Matt and Richie will also interview an audience member during the show and the cast will perform their version of the audience member’s life.
How much: $5, available in advance.
