Park Slope Planner: The Best Events October 11-14

With so much to do in Park Slope each weekend, we’ve made it easy to schedule your calendar. These are the best bets for fun in the neighborhood this weekend:

Thursday, October 11

• Enjoy a few beer specials at The Bell House at 8pm while watching Biden and Ryan go head to in the vice presidential debate on the big screen.

• If you’re looking for a different spectacle, Babs is coming back to Brooklyn in a show at Barclays, and if you head to Miriam between 8:30 and 10:30pm, you can expect drink specials, which will possibly lead to some impromptu renditions of “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”

Friday, October 12

• The annual Montauk Club Oktoberfest starts at 6pm, featuring Bavarian beer, music, food and festivities. Instead of the regular menu, Chef Larry will offer a set German menu for $35, featuring pretzels, bratwurst, sauerkraut and other specialties.

Saturday, October 13

• Get to know our own GO finalist, artist Jonathan Blum, who is speaking at a brunch at Temple Beth Emeth in Ditmas Park at 10am.

• The third installment of Noella’s curated Literature Series is at 7pm, and features local poets Marie Carter and Sharon Mesmer. But get there early – the last event was a full house!

Sunday, October 14

• Best dog event of the month? The North Slope Basset Association meets in Prospect Park at 10:30am. The gathering point is the gazebo near Grand Army Plaza, and then they’re walking (or is it a basset parade?) through the Meadowport Arch.
