Park Slope Planner: The Best Events November 13-16
It’s going to be a chilly weekend, but bundle up and head out to a few local events anyway. Warm up to some jazz at Tea Lounge, get moving while singing along to songs from the ’90s, or brave the outdoors to see some of the birds making their way through the park as they head someplace warmer. Joe Pino Quintet

What: Hear Joe Pino, trumpet, teacher/educator, and endorsed Adams Flugelhorn Artist, who started playing trumpet at the age of 10, and who’s performed with many great musicians and bands including The Temptations, The Happenings, Brian Evans, and Jim Rotondi.

The ’90s Alternative Singalong
When: Friday, November 14, 9:30pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: If you love karaoke and flannel but hate waiting your turn to sing and listening to terrible singers, then this group singalong featuring songs from Nirvana, Weezer, Pearl Jam, and more, is pretty much where you and your need to sing should be.

Introduction To Birdwatching
When: Saturday, November 15, 12pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: It’s migration season! The Brooklyn Bird Club will show you around and point out some of the more than 250 species of birds that call the park home, or are just passing through.

Tango Lessons
When: Saturday, November 15, 10am-12pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Learn the fundamentals of one of a dramatic dance at this fun, informal series from the IATI Theater. Lessons are in English and Spanish, and there are two sessions: 10-11am is for beginners, and 11am-12pm is for advanced dancers.
How much: Free, but space is limited, so arrive early, and bring your library card for admission.
The Longest War: A Conversation With Anand Gopal On The U.S. In Afghanistan
When: Saturday, November 15, 4pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Hear acclaimed journalist Anand Gopal discuss his book, which traces in vivid detail the lives of three Afghans caught in America’s war on terror.

Maine Crafts Trunk Show
When: Sunday, November 16, 2-6pm
Where: Luke’s Lobster, 237 5th Avenue
What: The new lobster roll joint is inviting three of its favorite Maine craftsmen to the restaurant, so you can meet the makers and discover one-of-a-kind holiday gifts — plus, you’ll get to enjoy some free chowder samples. Look for hand-thrown clay creations from Peasley Pottery,organic linen tea towels from Madder Root, and colorful, durable doormats made out of reclaimed rope from Maine Float Rope Co.

Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street
What: French guitarist Stephane Wrembel, who Rolling Stone calls “a revelation,” brings a little Gypsy Swing to the Barbes stage on Sunday. You won’t want to miss it.
