Kings Of Karaoke
When: Thursday, May 7, 10:30pm
Where: The Rock Shop, 249 4th Avenue
What: For those who’ve got a song in their heart, and possibly a beer in their belly.
How much: Free!

Shape Up NYC: Cardio Toning
When: Friday, May 8, 12pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Shape up your core with a free cardio class in Prospect Park that will combine strength, balance, and toning exercises. No reservation is required, but it is recommended that you bring a workout mat.
How much: Free!

Brooklyn Air
When: Friday, May 8, 7:30pm
Where: The Roof at Whole Foods, 214 3rd Street
What: The new, live show celebrates all things Brooklyn — this time, they’ll be featuring Cafe Grumpy, Nolan Orion, and live music by ThruthCity.
How much: Free!

Two-Book Minimum
When: Friday, May 8, 6-9pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Join writer-comedian hosts Dan Wilbur and Ross Hyzer as they invite their favorite writer-comedians — this month, Mike Lawrence, Michelle Wolf, Robert Dean, Neal Stastny, and Porochista Khakpour — to do stand-up, tell stories, and shout a few drunken ramblings about their favorite books.
How much: $7, tickets available in advance.

New York Bike Jumble
When: Saturday, May 9, 10am-4pm
Where: JJ Byrne Park on 5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets
What: Now in its 7th year, the bike flea market draws hardened bike geeks, vintage buffs, locals looking for their next great ride, bargain hunters, passers-by just browsing, and every type in between. It’s a great spot to score accessories at discounted prices, and support local business.
How much: Free!

Bike The Branches
When: Saturday, May 9, Ride 10am-5pm, Block Party 5-7pm
Where: Various locations
What: Explore Brooklyn history, tasty food, live music, exciting tours, a curious little monkey, and more at this year’s Bike the Branches. Get your passport stamped at as many branches as you can visit between 10am-5pm, then end the day at the Central Library’s Bike the Branches Block Party from 5-7pm, where they’ll have prizes for adults and children who visit the most branches.
How much: Registration is $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and children under 17, $40 for a family of up to 2 adults and 3 children, and $150 for a team of up to 10 people. All proceeds will benefit the Brooklyn Public Library.

Friends Of Park Slope Library Book Sale
When: Saturday, May 9, 11am-4pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Expect gently used books, music, and movies of all genres and for all ages. Proceeds from the book sale will be used for improvements and enhancements to the branch.

3rd Biennial Haiti Film Fest
When: Saturday, May 9, 1-6pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Catch three films that embrace nuanced, multi-faceted stories of the Haitian experience. Each screening will be followed by discussions with filmmakers, actors, and scholars.

The Mystique Boutique’s Sideshow Of Magic And Wonder “Ten-in-One” Variety Show
When: Sunday, May 10, 12-6pm
Where: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 3rd Avenue
What: Now this is an interesting way to spend Mother’s Day! With 10 different acts performing — a sword swallower, a contortionist, magicians, and more — you can stop by for one or stay to watch all.
How much: $5, tickets available in advance.

I’m New Here–Can You Show Me Around?
When: Sunday, May 10, 8pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Jon Ronson and Maeve Higgins host a night of tales, both funny and terrifying, about moving to NYC, featuring Wyatt Cenac, Daniel Simonsen, Christopher E. Mason, Ph.D., Jody Avirgan, and Tom Cowell.
