Musical Ecologies: Amy X Neuburg

What: Oakland-based singer, performer, and lyricist Amy X Neuburg brings a witty, technologically sophisticated avant-cabaret performance that mixes favorites from her original repertoire with highlights from her recent interpretations of songs by others

What: For those who’ve got a song in their heart, and possibly a beer in their belly.

Shape Up NYC: Cardio Toning
When: Friday, May 15, 12pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Shape up your core with a free cardio class in Prospect Park that will combine strength, balance, and toning exercises. No reservation is required, but it is recommended that you bring a workout mat.

Pupnic
When: Friday, May 15, 5pm-dusk
Where: Neithermead, Prospect Park
What: Join pooches and their people this Friday in Prospect Park for potluck fun, and FIDO’s Mid-Summer Games. Look for biscuit eating competitions, “stupid dog tricks,” and more.

Come On Get Happy Hour
When: Friday, May 15, 7pm
Where: Babeland, 462 Bergen Street
What: Enjoy a little Babeland Bubbly and sexy tips after the workweek — they’ll provide some ideas for enjoying your weekend, plus there will be time to ask any questions you may have. And get there early, because the first five people to arrive will receive treats to try out at home!

Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco
When: Friday, May 15, 7:30pm
Where: LeFrak Center, Lakeside
What: Relive the electric ’80s this Friday, when Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco returns to Lakeside. Opening night is all about Flashdance, so be sure to rock your best roller disco attire. Note that admission is restricted to guests ages 21 and older.
How much: $18 (includes admission and skate rental), tickets available in advance.

Live Tunes & Beer Glass Painting
When: Friday, May 15, 8pm
Where: 200 Fifth, 200 5th Avenue
What: Enjoy tunes, beers, and get crafty as the band Full Disclosure plays at the bar and Blue Moon Beer holds a “paint your own beer glass” promotion. Like what you hear? The band will also be playing at the bar during the Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair on Sunday 1:30pm.

Stop ‘N’ Swap
When: Saturday, May 16, 12-3pm
Where:The Old Stone House, 336 3rd Street
What: Bring clean items in good enough shape that someone else can still get some use of of them (and small enough that they can carry them away) — think clothes, housewares, books, games, toys, and more. And anyone, whether you bring something or not, is welcome to take something home.
How much: Free!

Live Transmission Of WFMU’s Transpacific Sounds Paradise
When: Saturday, May 16, 6-9pm
Where: Barbés, 376 9th Street
What: Join Rob Weisberg and co-host Irene Trudel for a jam-packed, five-act evening of their show, featuring live world music from Kane Mathis, Karavika, Rana Santacruz, The Breizh-Amerika Collective, and Tipsy Oxcart. Plus, they’ll be giving away free WFMU swag.

Food Truck Rally
When: Sunday, May 17, 11am-5pm
Where: Grand Army Plaza
What: Have the munchies? Stop by Prospect Park on Sunday, and nosh on goodies from some of the city’s best food trucks.

Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair
When: Sunday, May 17, 12-6pm
Where: 5th Ave between Sterling Place and 12th Street
What: Not your generic street fair, this giant party celebrates local businesses with lots of food, games, rides, cool antique cars, art, and more.

Classical Interludes: aTonal Hits
When: Sunday, May 17, 4pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: The violin and piano duo will perform American music from the 20th and 21st centuries, from Charles Ives’ Sonata No. 2 to Eugene Birman’s Sonata No. 2 for Violin and Piano.
How much: Free, but RSVP to ensure you get a seat. Kids under 6 will not be admitted.
