Spring is in the air (despite this brush with winter today), and we’ve got some fun events coming up in the neighborhood this weekend so you can get out and about. From live music to a free dance lesson, from a morbid market to a reading of Beckett, there’s plenty to do nearby. Details on those, and more, below.

The Pre-War Ponies
When: Thursday, March 12, 10pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street
What: Groove to some forgotten gems of the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s!
How much: $10 strongly suggested donation.

PSUMC Social Action Committee Panel: Divest & Reinvest
When: Friday, March 13, 7pm
Where: Park Slope United Methodist Church, 410 6th Avenue
What: This public panel discussion, which will be followed by a Q&A session, will explore divestment and reinvestment as a way to influence corporate and government behavior to help stem the ravages of climate change. Childcare will be provided.
How much: Free!

Short Film Festival
When: Friday, March 13, 7pm
Where: The Bahche, 191 7th Street
What: See a few independent short films from around the world at this new weekly screening.
How much: Free!

Tango Workshops
When: Saturday, March 14, 10am-12pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Learn the fundamentals of one of a dramatic dance at this fun, informal series from the IATI Theater. Lessons are in English and Spanish, and there are two sessions: 10-11am is for beginners, and 11am-12pm is for advanced dancers.
How much: Free, but space is limited, so arrive early, and bring your library card for admission.

Introduction To Birdwatching
When: Saturday, March 14, 12pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Take a tour with the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn about the 250 species of birds that call Prospect Park home.
How much: Free!

Beckett Out Loud With Kevin Holohan, Honor Molloy, And Maeve Price
When: Saturday, March 14, 4pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a literary way? Three born-and-raised Dubliners will bring some of Samuel Beckett’s characters to life at this reading.
How much: Free, but RSVP to be seated first!

Morbid Anatomy Spring Flea Market
When: Sunday, March 15, 12-6pm
Where: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 3rd Avenue
What: Even if you don’t find anything to buy, we’re pretty sure perusing all the taxidermy, “artful bones,” and other curiosities will be a fun post-brunch activity.
How much: Free!

Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade
When: Sunday, March 15, 1pm
Where: Starts at 15th Street and Prospect Park West
What: The Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns for its 40th year on Sunday, March 15, and neighbors are invited to come celebrate all that is Irish, as bands, bag pipes, step dancers, and more take to the streets — see the route here.
