It’s really starting to feel like spring, the kind of weather that makes you want to get out and enjoy it! If you’re looking for something to do in the neighborhood this weekend, there’s a discussion with novelist Jamaica Kincaid, bingo, an art opening, and even some literary erotica. Literary Encounters: A Conversation Between Jamaica Kincaid & Lauren K Alleyne
When: Thursday, April 3, 7pm
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue
What: Novelist, essayist, and memoirist Jamaica Kincaid will be in conversation with debut poet Lauren K Alleyne, talking influences, career trajectories, and defiance, as well as the literary encounters that lit up their minds and shook up their writing. Refreshments will be served, and audience participation is welcome and encouraged. Moderated by Sharon Guskin.

Park Slope Bingo Club

When: Friday, April 4, 6pm
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street
What: A group art show by Victor de Matha, Johanna Guevara, Jonathan McIntosh, Joseph O’Neal, Jason Potvin, Joe Strasser, and Dustin Yang. Plus, there’s a pop-up nail lacquer shop, food truck Gorilla Cheese NYC will be parked out front, and there’s a dance party after the reception.

Participatory Budgeting Vote
When: Saturday, April 5, 10am-7pm
Where: The Old Stone House, 336 3rd Street
What: Anyone who is 16 or older and lives in City Council District 39 can vote for up to five projects — which, in our area, include an outdoor plaza at John Jay, repairs to the Ennis Playground basketball courts, safety improvements on 4th Avenue from 8th to 18th Streets, laptops for 3rd-5th graders at PS 321 and other area schools, and more — and the winning projects will be funded.
KafkaRotica: A Night Of Literary Erotica, Music, And Comedy
When: Saturday, April 5, 9pm
Where: Two Moon Art House & Cafe, 315 4th Avenue
What: Always wondered what it’d be like what if classic authors had written erotic fiction? Wonder no more, as the creators of KafkaRotica host a night of music, comedy, and erotica, including short stories like “Shake My Speare,” “The Thoreaus of Passion,” and “Camus’ Sutra.”

Morning Bird Walk: Changing Seasons, Changing Birds

Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: The Brooklyn Bird Club leads a tour around the park to welcome the earliest migratory birds, and also say goodbye to some of our winter residents.
