Parents Can Get Texts from City Schools
She is focused, I wasn't lol

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott have launched a new texting program aiming to keep parents up to date on everything involving their kid’s school experience.

Parents can sign up by texting “nycschools” to 877-877, and here’s what you’ll get:

The mobile updates will include the issues parents who responded to the School Survey indicated as priority: the 2012-2013 school calendar; information on how to enroll in school programs; breakfast and lunch menus; and tips on how to log onto ARIS Parent Link – a web resource with student attendance, test score and grade data.

There has been pressure to implement a program like this for over a decade, most notably after the confusion that reigned in schools on September 11, 2001.

If you’re a parent who has signed up for this program, what grade would you give it?
