Papercut Artist Thomas Witte Part Of Grand Central Centennial Exhibit

Local artist Thomas Witte, who you may remember from a profile on this site last year, will be one of four papercut artists featured in an exhibit called On Paper, organized by MTA Arts for Transit and Urban Design to celebrate this year’s centennial of Grand Central Terminal.

For the exhibit, the artists — including Laura Cooperman, Rob Ryan, and Xin Song — took Grand Central as inspiration, as you can see in the video of Thomas above, made by neighbor Antonio Rosario. Each piece of art is composed of four panels set in the lightbox windows that flank the dining concourse on the lower level of Grand Central Terminal, the first time the lightboxes will be used to display original art; they usually showcase photographic work.

The exhibition will be on view from Friday, September 27, 2013 through September, 2014.
