Package-Stealing, Red-Scooter Driving Grinch Arrested

A fire-engine red scooter is not the most subtle means of transportation for a thief responsible for stealing packages in the neighborhood.

The 72nd Precinct tweeted that the bandit was arrested on Wednesday, December 9 by P.O. McGrath. And it was because a neighbor saw the suspect and recognized him from the posters in the neighborhood.

The neighbor called 911, which launched a neighborhood search for the suspect, who has been taken into custody.

Concerned neighbors had been on the lookout for weeks. “I know for sure it’s happening on 20th, 19th, and 18th Streets between Prospect Park West and Terrace Place,” said neighbor and active community member Charles Henderson. You may recall Henderson playing a major role in gun-point muggings in the area last September.

Luckily, the neighbors can cross this big headache off their holiday list, and get on with the season celebrations — and the gift receiving.
