Out and About and Proud: Brooklyn Pride in Park Slope This Saturday
Saturday is Brooklyn Pride, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait for the weekend to celebrate — there are events throughout the borough all week, including tomorrow’s tribute to legendary crusader/drag performer/Stonewall-era lesbian bar-bouncer Storme DeLarverie at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture on Prospect Park West.
The main event(s) kicks off Saturday at 9am with a Pride 5K Run and culminates in a twilight parade down 5th Ave. Here’s the official schedule — plan your pride (and your weekend transportation) accordingly:

Meanwhile, an extensive roster of Park Slope bars and restaurants are offering discounts and specials as part of Pride Happy Hour (or at least, we’re guessing it’s an extensive roster. It was last year. This year’s offerings — and timeframe — are still TBD).
And then it’s onto the afterparties! In Park Slope:
Brooklyn Pride After Party to Benefit SRLP at Transy House (214 16th St between 5th and 6th Aves)
Performances including feminist hip-hop collective 3XLADYCREW, Violet Temper, Mik Kinkead, & Glenn Marla!! Music by DJ Libr8! Food! Drinks! Films from Transy House’s history! $10 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds.
UPDATED: More Afterparties (in Gowanus, technically, but who’s counting?) The Bell House hosts Laid BK Pride Queer Dance Party (149 7th St between 2nd and 3rd Aves), while Brooklyn Based says Lowlands (543 3rd Ave at 14th St) is offering lower-key après-parade festivities.
