Online Privacy Forum At The Central Library Next Week
On Wednesday, November 13 at 7pm, the Central Library (10 Grand Army Plaza) is hosting Nothing to Hide?, a free forum about online privacy. The conversation will take a look at what’s at stake when we discuss online privacy, what a loss of privacy means to a democratic way of life, how the average internet and smartphone user can feel safe but free on the web, and more.
Panelists will include Seeta Peña Gangadharan, a senior research fellow at the New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute; David Huerta, who helps organize CryptoParties, local teach-in sessions which bring technologists and everyday people together to learn how to protect their online privacy; and Alfredo López, one of the founders of the technology organization May First/People Link and currently the co-chair of its leadership committee.
