After a sold-out run in the Park Slope bathtub circuit earlier this month, writer, performer, activist, and award-winning playwright Siobhan O’Loughlin will be returning to Brooklyn, including a stop in Fort Greene this Saturday, January 16.

“I love the spirit of this neighborhood — quite a few folks and friends who arrived were activist types and artistically minded, which definitely is the ethos of the show we’re putting on,” she said. “Our guests have been incredibly friendly — when groups enter for the show, they spend time together in the living room, drinking and socializing. This is the kind of neighborhood that isn’t afraid to get into it right away — it helps when groups arrive with good energy at the start.”

Indie theater and film company Elephant Run District’s production Broken Bone Bathtub is intimate — seriously intimate. Audience sizes range from 6-8 people, so it’s best to get your tickets very fast.

The role audience the audience plays during intimate live theater can’t be underestimated. O’Loughlin had a particularly interesting performance she shared with us:

“We had one night where some audience members cancelled, and we had a smaller group with only one woman and three men. These ‘dudes’ didn’t seem like average theatre go-ers. I know my staff was mildly nervous about how it was going to go.
This is an interactive play, where the audience does more than simply give me a bath — their stories contribute to the whole of the experience. And it turned out that these boys in Park Slope still had plenty of stories, plenty of feelings and experiences to share with us all, in a very intimate space that meant so much. Thank you, Park Slope.”
