One Dead in Weekend Bay Ridge Fire
BAY RIDGE—A fire in a Bay Ridge apartment building over the weekend left one woman dead.
FDNY responded to a 911 call of a residential fire at 16 94th at 11:29 on Saturday, August 26. The fire took place in a single unit on the third floor of the 3-story building, said the FDNY.
Responders found one person, an adult female, dead at the scene of the fire. The deceased has yet to be identified.
12 units and 60 firefighters were on scene, with the fire under control by 12:05am, said an FDNY representative.
The FDNY tweeted out the cause of the fire, stating that the fire was accidental, citing “careless discard of smoking materials,” as seen below.
