NYPD Will Provide Coverage at Theaters Playing Batman Movie in NYC

Following last night’s tragic shooting at a Colorado movie theater showing the new Batman film, The Dark Night Rises, the NYPD says they will be at theaters showing the movie.

“As a precaution against copycats and to raise the comfort levels among movie patrons in the wake of the horrendous shooting in Colorado, the New York City Police Department is providing coverage at theaters where the ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is playing in the five boroughs,” Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said in a statement.

It’s playing nearby at the Kent Theater on Coney Island Avenue, and at the Pavilion in Park Slope. If you head out to see the film this weekend, let us know if you notice any police coverage.
