NYPD Vs. FDNY Fun City Bowl Coming To MCU Park
The annual NYPD vs. FDNY Fun City Bowl football game is coming to Coney Island’s MCU Park after a decade-long hiatus from New York City.
Public officials celebrated the news that the game was coming to Brooklyn on May 22.
The game is expected to draw an estimated 10,000 fans, which has been held for last 10 years in Long Island, according to the Daily News.
Two NFL players will lead first responders on the field. New York Jets center Nick Mangold is expected to be the co-captain for the NYPD. Giants running back Shane Vereen will lead the FDNY team, the Daily News reports.
Borough President Eric Adams, a former police captain, wrote on Twitter that he would clearly be favoring New York’s finest in the match.
Money raised from the game will benefit the NYPD Widows’ & Children’s Fund or the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation, according to the Daily News. Ticket purchasers will also receive a voucher for $15 towards seats at a Brooklyn Cyclones game on either July 1, 2 or 3.
Tickets are available at BrooklynCyclones.com or 718-507-TIXX (8499) and cost $20.
