UPDATE: Tenant Charged With Landlord’s Murder

UPDATE 1/8/14: Police have arrested 27-year-old Rasel Siddiquee, a resident of the McDonald Avenue apartment building, and have charged him with the murder, as well as criminal possession of a weapon. He was arrested at JFK Airport while allegedly trying to flee the country, according to ABC, which notes that a safe at the electronics store that Mahmud owned was open and missing $20,000.

EARLIER: Police need the public’s help in locating 27-year-old Mohammed Siddiquee, who is wanted for questioning in relation to the killing of Wesminster Road’s Mahiuddin Mahmud early this morning at 546 McDonald Avenue.

The New York Daily News reported earlier today that a 20-something tenant of the building was a person of interest.

Anyone with information about Siddiquee or his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting your tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. Police say all calls are confidential.
