The NYPD and Kings County District Attorney Ken Thompson are hosting a Gun Buy Back event on Saturday, December 5, from 10am to 4pm at the Lenox Road Baptist Church, located at 1356 Nostrand Avenue between Lenox Road and Linden Boulevard.

People can drop off their unwanted firearms, no questions asked, in return for money.

The District Attorney’s office will offer $200 bank cards for each operable handgun or assault rifle turned in and $25 for operable shotguns and rifles. The bank cards will be issued after each unloaded gun is received and screened by officers onsite. You may turn in as many guns as you like, but there is a limit of $600 in bank cards.

Guns should be unloaded and packaged in a paper or plastic bag or box when brought to the event. Both working and inoperable weapons will be accepted. Active or retired law enforcement officers and licensed gun dealers are not eligible.

According to the DA, gun buy back events have taken close to 10,000 guns off the street since 2008. To find out more about the program, you can call 311.

The DA is also hosting a Begin Again event on Saturday, from 9am to 3pm at the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, located at 228 Decatur Street, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where those with outstanding warrants can get a chance to clear their name.
