Now We’ll Never Know What Leslie Knopes Thinks About Bike Lanes

Apparently, Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler “does not have time” to come hang out with councilman Brad Lander and real talk city governance.

In May, says Patch, Lander wrote a tongue-in-cheek letter to Leslie Knope, Poehler’s (fictional) Parks and Rec character, a (fictional) councilwoman in the (fictional) town of Pawnee, where the (fictional) show is set. “I think the Pawnee Councilmember-Elect could learn a lot from our experiences in Brooklyn,” he jokingly explained, telling Patch that he’s got a wealth of Pawnee-applicable knowledge. “Brooklynites show how parent involvement in PTAs or community stewardship of public spaces can help solve problems that Pawnee is also facing.”

But alas, Poehler’s reps, uninterested in the civic future of Pawnee, shot him down.
