Now Open: Warm Up At Spice And Grill At 441 Myrtle Avenue
How about a little spice to warm up and chase away your winter blues? Well we can get that and more at Spice And Grill (441 Myrtle Avenue), one of the first new businesses of the new year!
Their doors opened a few days ago and word is already spreading about their curries, kabobs, goat and chicken dishes, momos (small dumplings with spicy tomato and sesame sauce), cheese naan, chatamari (rice crepes topped with lamb and spicy sauce), and sel roti (sweet ring-shaped doughnuts).
According to manager Bikash Kharel, the menu includes the same dishes available at their Ridgewood, Queens location, but with several new additions exclusive to Brooklyn.
“There’s a couple of new stuff like cheese naan and cheese balls,” said Kharel. “And a chicken triangle that is like samosas but different outside, plus a couple of Nepali items with chiles. We are slowly gonna build special items. There are also grilled items like Lamb Pepper Grill, shrimp tandoori, grilled chicken chops, and masala fries — our twist on french fries.”
The menu is a mix of Nepali and Indian-inspired dishes, as well as wine and beer (the license approval is pending).
“My father used to work down the block, towards Downtown Brooklyn,” said Kharel, explaining why they chose Myrtle Avenue for their second location. “We ran the [Queens] place for two years and realized when you call it Nepalese Indian Restaurant, people are less likely to come in for wine and snacks.”
Spice And Grill is open daily from 11am to 11pm and is offering a 20 percent discount now through Friday, January 8 on ALL menu items, whether for take-out, eat-in, or delivery.
So “get a cup of hot chai, chicken soup, some hot curries & battle this weather!”
