Now Open: Russo’s On 5th Avenue

Russo’s, the Italian specialties shop with a location on 7th Avenue in South Slope and another in the East Village, celebrated the grand opening of its newest spot on 5th Avenue this past Friday.

They’ve taken over 312 5th Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd Streets, a space that was formerly occupied by another Italian deli, M&S Prime Meats, which closed last month due to owner Mel Diaz’s health problems.

If you’ve ever been to one of their other shops, you know you can expect really good fresh mozzarella, along with fresh pasta, sandwiches, prepared foods, and more. While we’ll miss M&S and their giant sandwiches, we’re certainly happy to have Russo’s as a replacement — they also make a pretty mean sandwich!
