Now Open: Greentree Pharmacy
Greentree Pharmacy is now open at 291 7th Avenue, between 7th and 8th Streets, in the space formerly occupied by Health Aid Pharmacy. They’re still gathering some stock and are expecting to be able to begin filling prescriptions this week, but they are ready to start meeting neighbors and finding out what you’re looking for in a pharmacy.
When we stopped in, the staff explained that they’re planning to offer a lot of eco-friendly products, have reusable shopping bags for sale, and find ways to create less of an impact on the environment.
When asked what the difference might be between them and the Rite Aid up the street, they explained that while the bigger store may have some similar eco-friendly products, Greentree plans to have a larger selection available. Even so, next to those products they will still have more traditional products — for instance, they’ve got Softsoap alongside small-batch, handmade bars of soap. Additionally, they’ve got a nutritionist on staff who can answer any questions you may have.
As they test out what works, and get feedback from shoppers, they’re looking at carrying more toys from Melissa & Doug, offering gift baskets for visitors looking for items for new parents at Methodist, and they’re considering adding a juice bar to the space in the future.
Greentree Pharmacy is located at 291 7th Avenue, 718-768-2700. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm (same hours for the prescription counter), Saturday 9am-7pm (10am-6pm for prescriptions), and closed Sundays, though the hours may change. They’ll be offering free prescription pick-up and delivery as well.
