Now Closed: Jackie’s 5th Amendment?

After staying open well beyond an anticipated September 14 closing date, it looks like Jackie’s 5th Amendment, the bar at 404 5th Avenue that once started a petition to secede from Park Slope, may have finally made its last pour.

A tipster sends in this photo from this afternoon, with the gates down at a typically open hour. We tried their phone number, but it’s been disconnected.

Harold Costello and his late wife Jackie took over the bar from her parents in the ’70s, renaming it (from Tyson’s) in her honor. Rumor has it that this space has been a bar continuously since prohibition — but that’s at an end, as the pharmacy next door is expected to expand into the space.

Cheers to all the staff and anyone who’s ever raised a glass here!
