Notes from the Community Board 14 Monthly Meeting

Last night’s regular monthly meeting of Community Board 14 was a quick one, with a vote for executive members of the Board, a run-down of the few committee meetings that happened in the past month, and just a few speakers during the public comment portion. Here’s some of what you missed:

* There will be additional sanitation collection before Passover. For areas with regular pick-up on Mon/Thu or Wed/Sat, there will be an additional pick-up on Friday, April 6 (for those with pick-up Tue/Fri, April 6 pick-up will be “enhanced”). Recycling will be picked up from midnight through 8am, so recycling must be placed curbside by Thursday evening; garbage pick-up begins in the morning, and garbage must be out no later than 11am on Friday.

* The 70th Precinct will provide increased patrol at houses of worship during the holiday season.

* CB14 congratulates its newest executive members, Mohammed Razvi and Florence Valentino, who were voted in as Members-at-Large. They thank Li Ng Chao and Ephraim Nierenberg, who are exiting those positions, for their service.

* The Transportation Committee reported on the Prospect Park Road Sharing Taskforce meetings, noting that CB14 had expressed its concern about the planned elimination of one lane of car traffic through the park, wondering about the potential traffic impact on adjacent streets in our district, like Parkside and Ocean Avenues.

The next monthly meeting of CB14 will be on Monday, April 16, at PS 249.
