Notes From The CB14 Monthly Meeting
Community Board 14 held its monthly meeting Monday night at PS 249. The next monthly meeting will be Monday, May 13, and the public is welcome to attend. Here’s what happened this month:
District Manager Shawn Campbell says there has been a recent uptick in fires in the area, and FDNY Community Affairs was present to remind locals to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.- The Youth Services Committee is looking for volunteers to help before and during its 6th Annual Youth Conference on April 24.
- Councilman Eugene is seeking the city’s assistance in appointing a Community Liaison for business owners in the area, as well as reviewing existing violations against small businesses.
- This month’s Human Services Committee meeting, which was rescheduled from April 11 because of the State of the Borough Address, will now be held on Monday, May 20 in the CB14 District Office.
- Ali Jacobs of Q Gardens is seeking signatures for a letter of support to the MTA.
- A reminder that the Spring Candidates Election Forum is this Sunday, April 14, at 5pm. (Jacob Gold really, really wants you to know that there will be cake.)
- Free mammograms and breast exams will be available at Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs’ office (2294 Nostrand Ave. by Ave. I) Thursday, May 9 from 9am-4:30pm.
- COPO is also offering free dental screenings on Saturday, April 20 (1081 Coney Island Ave. by Glenwood Rd.) starting at 11am.
