Nor’easter May Bring 50+ MPH Winds, Flooding and Power Outages

This week’s forecast continues to disappoint. Here’s what we have to look forward to:

• It’s relatively warm during the day today and tomorrow but it’s getting very cold at night, a huge concern for those tens of thousands just in New York City without power or heat.

• Since we last posted about the storm that will hit on Wednesday, the nor’easter headed our way seems a bit worse. “Sustained winds of 40-50 mph with gusts of 55-65 mph are likely in this region,” wrote Rob White of OWB.

Snow will hit inland while 1-2 inches of rain will hit New York City with a 3-5 foot storm surge resulting in some flooding, reports Gothamist. We can look forward to more flooding, beach erosion and more power outages, reports the Huffington Post. If you don’t have proper shelter or heat, make sure to head to a shelter or some place warm by Wednesday. Share these forecasts with anyone you know without power.

• The National Weather Service says that things will clear up on Friday and temperatures will approach 60 by the weekend. It’s weather whiplash but, by then, I suspect we’ll be happy to have it.
