Noah’s Ark Pet Supplies Offers Neighborly Advice & Service On Church Avenue

Noah’s Ark Pet Supplies (737 Church Avenue between E 7th and E 8th Streets), the store we first wrote about back in May, is finally open for business. Owner Edgar Francisquini of Ditmas Park is slowly stocking Noah’s Ark according to the needs of locals and their pets.

Edgar, who returned to the area recently after living in New Jersey for a few years, decided to open the store because he couldn’t find what he needed for his dogs, four turtles, and variety of fish in the area. While he previously worked at Petland Discounts for six years, he says he’s been disappointed recently with the service there.

“You go in there, it’s hard to find someone to help you, and if you don’t already know what you’re looking for, you’re out of luck,” he says. On trips to the store since leaving the company, he says, “I, as a customer, have helped other customers.”

Edgar says he’ll be happy to help customers find what their individual pets need. In fact Abady, one of the dog food brands he’s carrying, recently sent a veteranarian to teach him about all their different products–and they’re coming back to quiz him on his expertise soon.

Aside from Abady, Edgar is carrying brands that aren’t always readily available in the neighborhood (including Wellness, Merrick, Royal Canin, and World’s Best Cat Litter), and is also welcoming neighbors in to suggest products they need that aren’t yet on the Noah’s Ark shelves.

“If I don’t have it, I’ll get it,” he says, adding he’ll match or beat the price on the same product carried elsewhere.

Besides food and litter, Noah’s Ark will have grooming accessories, leashes and collars, carriers and cages, and even little puffy coats for your fashionable, chilly terrier mix or very tolerant cat.

The store will also have freshwater and saltwater fish (custom tanks are on their way), birds like cockatiels, finches, and canaries, small animals like guinea pigs, rabbits, and hamsters, and reptiles as allowed once construction is complete. Currently, a room for those animals is being built, as well as an area where grooming services will be offered.

Edgar expects all construction to be completed long before October, with the aforementioned fish tanks going in last–and while he doesn’t want to stress any animals out with the construction going on now, he says his one-year-old Victorian Bulldog Sinatra will be a regular fixture in the store. Oh, and you’re obviously welcome to bring your pets, too!

You can stop into Noah’s Ark 10am-9pm Monday-Saturday, and 10am-6pm on Sundays, or call 929-234-6999.
