Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz is sponsoring the Ninth Annual Lena Cymbrowitz Community Health Fair, in conjunction with Maimonides Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center and Kiwanis International, June 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. along Emmons Avenue from Sheepshead Bay Road to Ocean Avenue.

In addition to the free health screenings and health information, the fair will include a special drug giveback repository, so residents can safely drop off their no longer-needed prescription medications, which will be accepted with no questions asked. The drug giveback is being coordinated with the New York City Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

The fair will also feature NYU’s Smiling Faces Dental Van as well as lots of free give-a-ways. Children can explore a functioning ambulance and fire truck, and will be entertained with magic, a clown, face painting and a caricaturist.  Local schools are scheduled to perform and there will also be a live band and DJ.

“I’m happy that I was able to arrange this special prescription drug giveback opportunity, because the National Drug Giveback day was held on a Saturday in April, preventing many of our neighbors from participating,” said Cymbrowitz.
