Next Tuesday, August 4, is National Night Out Against Crime, when more than 15,000 communities across the country join with their local precincts to take back the streets from unlawful activity.

In New York City, station houses throughout the five boroughs will be hosting festivals, block parties, cookouts and other events meant to strengthen the relationship between residents and law enforcement. It’s an opportunity to mingle with the local patrolmen, politicians, and community leaders and enjoy free food and games. You will also be able to meet the 61st Precinct’s new commanding officer, Captain Winston Faison.

This year, festivities at the 61st Precinct will take place in the station’s rear parking lot at 2575 Coney Island Ave from 5 – 8pm.

Free food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, cotton candy, and ice cream, will be provided at the event. There will also be a 22-foot inflatable slide, a bounce house, raffle giveaways, dancing, and a DJ to keep the party jamming throughout the evening.
