New York’s General Elections Are Tomorrow! Here’s What You Need To Know

Tuesday, November 3, is New York’s General Elections. Polls open from 6am – 9pm and there are a number of important races on the ballot. Here’s what you need to know.

In southern Brooklyn, candidates are looking to fill two seats in the state legislature that were vacated earlier this year. Democrat Pamela Harris has been squaring off against her Republican rival Lucretia Regina-Potter to represent the 46th Assembly District. The position was given up by Alec Brook-Krasny earlier this year. Find out where Harris and Regina-Potter stand on the issues in this article about a debate between the two candidates.

Three candidates are also hoping to fill the state senate seat of John Sampson, who was convicted this summer of obstruction of justice and lying to federal agents as part of a corruption investigation. Assemblywoman Roxanne Persaud, who was elected last year to represent the 59th assembly district, is competing against Republican Jeffrey Ferretti, who she beat in the assembly race, and Conservative candidate Elias Weir.
