New Speed Bumps Coming To 5 Streets In CB7
Of the seven speed bumps that residents in Community Board 7 were hoping for, five will be installed. According to the Brooklyn Paper, Wednesday night CB7 voted in favor of speed bumps on the following streets:
Ocean Parkway between Caton & Kermit Places
21st Street between 5th & 6th Avenues
21st Street between 4th & 5th Avenues
6th Avenue between 21st & 22nd Streets
6th Avenue between 22nd & 23rd Streets
Two of the proposed speed bumps were not approved. One on 18th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues “never made it to the full board because opponents were fearful of noise and the impact vehicles would have on the pipes below the street when they roll over the bump too fast,” the Brooklyn Paper reports. And one on 11th Ave between Prospect Ave and Sherman Street was scrapped because of concerns “that the street is made of landfill.”
