A new residential building is coming to 531 Coney Island Avenue. Plans for the site at the corner of Hinckley Place have been posted on the construction fence.

According to YIMBY, plans for the six-story building were first filed in 2005 and construction was underway in 2007, but that construction halted in 2011.

The Department of Buildings issued a new set of permits last month and work has restarted on the project. The building will have 58 apartments with nearly 40,000 total square feet, as well as about 4,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor. There are also plans for 29 parking spots, which is the minimum required by zoning. Other amenities include a roof deck, storage for 28 bikes, and laundry.

According to the sign, the building is scheduled to be completed in two years. The building is across the street from the future site of PS/IS 338, which is also slated to open in 2017, and is one of the only new residential projects in the area.
