Under New Management, 5th Ave’s Kleen Machine Laundromat Will Go Green

PARK SLOPE – New management will soon take over Kleen Machine, the long-running laundromat located at 309 5th Avenue, and bring in new and improved machines.

As reported in October, the property’s owner, Daniel Borrero, Jr., said that he’d been looking for a new laundry service tenant for the space for several months. The Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID posted a photo on their Facebook page on Thursday showing a sign outside the storefront reading, “Under new management. Will be back soon with brand new machines.”

A call to Borrero this afternoon confirmed this. He tells BKLYNER that 309 5th Avenue is actually two storefronts, and that the laundromat will soon occupy the larger space located on the right side of the building. He says that the new management is in the process of purchasing brand new machines that will be energy efficient and faster. He also adds that all the lighting in the renovated space will be LED and energy efficient as well.

The current incarnation of Kleen Machine will remain open until construction begins. Renovations are expected to take between three to four weeks, Borrero says. When the laundromat reopens, along with the brand new green machines, customers can expect the return of drop-office and dry cleaning services as well as the addition of tailoring.

It is not known whether the new operator will keep the Kleen Machine name or change it. Borrero says he is currently looking for a tenant for the smaller storefront on the left.
