New Last Exit Before Brooklyn-Bound Verrazano-Narrows Bridge In Operation Monday, July 9

This pertains more to the Staten Islanders, but it may be helpful nonetheless: The last exit before the Verrazano Bridge is now new Exit 15, Fingerboard Road/Lily Pond Ave.

Motorists driving on the Staten Island Expressway who want to exit before reaching the Brooklyn-bound Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will have to use the New York State Department of Transportation’s new Fingerboard Road/Lily Pond Exit 15 off the expressway beginning Monday, July 9.

The old last exit before the bridge heading eastbound is being permanently closed after the morning traffic rush on Monday as part of the State’s Staten Island Expressway improvement project.

Temporary orange signs for the new Exit 15 that say Lily Pond Ave/Last Exit Before Toll will be in place until permanent signs with the exit’s full name: Fingerboard Road/Lily Pond Ave/Last Exit Before Bridge are put in place.

Motorists should be alert driving through the area as it may take time to adjust to the new traffic patterns.
