New Juice Joint Jiggles Its Smoothie Moves At Windsor Terrace Location
There’s nothing better than a fresh smoothie or juice to cool down in the approaching summertime heat. The neighborhood now has the option of Very Juice Bar (211 Prospect Park West near 16th Street), which recently opened just a few steps away from Bartel Pritchard Square and Prospect Park.
The newest juice joint joins many other juice bars in the area after being under construction since last summer. The place originally planned to open in September 2015.
The original location at 422 Ave P in Midwood has been open since September 2014. Owner Sharon Laviv was happy to tell the Stoop all about Very Juice and its new location.
“This spring, Very Juice arrives in Park Slope. The second of two Brooklyn locations, this store 211 Prospect Park West, currently offers the same made-to-order super food smoothies and organic cold-press juices,” writes Laviv. “Also on the menu are fresh-made daily sandwiches, soups, organic salads, and a selection of raw, vegan offerings. Very Juice is certified kosher, open Sunday to Friday, happy to now open in Park Slope.”
It’s the perfect place to stop in and grab something for a quick healthy bite. There are enough options on the menu to satisfy anyone, with quite a variety. You can get sipping on a fruity smoothie such as the Berry Breeze ($8.95), which has strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, and coconut water, or a classic wheatgrass shot.
Regular customer and neighbor Ralph Stein works in midtown Manhattan, but stops here for his daily juice fix. The woman behind the counter already knew his order when he walked in.
“I’m really into health,” Stein said. “I was drinking wheatgrass shots at home anyway, so this is great.”
The Peaches & Cream smoothie ($8.95) is a sweet and dessert-like smoothie with peaches, almond milk, bananas, and chia seeds. The smoothie is also a nice size, with just the right amount to fill you up for breakfast to take on the day or for that midday rut between lunch and dinner.
Coffee lovers are in for a treat, because Very Juice has its own coffee smoothie with cold brew coffee, raw cacao and banana. Juices are named after the intended effect that they are supposed to have on a customer, including Cold Buster, Detox, Energy, Spirit, and Inspiring.
Very Juice also offers “smoothie bowls,” which as you can see in the above photo, include toppings on the smoothie. One of the more intriguing offerings is The Dragon Fruit bowl ($10.95) which consists of pitaya, banana, and almond milk — and is topped with sliced banana and pineapple.
Very Juice joins the forthcoming Glatt kosher Bison & Bourbon (191 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues) in keeping Shabbat hours by closing on Saturdays in an area not known for its kosher-keeping neighborhood.
The new juice place offers some strong options and could very well be one of the newest go-to smoothie and juice places this summer.
