New Japanese Resturant Shamisen To Open On 5th Avenue On Thursday
The sign above the doors bills it as a Japanese restaurant, the menu calls it “modern fusion cuisine,” but whatever it is, you’ll get to try Shamisen when it opens for the first time this Thursday, November 21 at 11am.
After starting up construction in June at 384 5th Avenue, on the corner of 6th Street, it’s gotten quite the makeover, and looks a lot different inside and out compared to the former Brooklyn Bread location.
Of course, there are no shortage of sushi spots around the neighborhood — including Mura, just across the street — and the menu does feature an extensive list, but the “house specials” seem to offer some differences, like a roasted duck in a lychee curry sauce or an eggplant dish with garlic sauce. It also says they’ll have oysters (Blue Point and Kumamoto) and clams.
See the menu below, and if you try it out, let us know what you think!
Shamisen is located at 384 5th Avenue, 718-788-2299 or 718-788-2200. They’ll be open daily from 11am to 10:30pm, and will offer free delivery.
