New Hotel Coming To 61 Bond Street
The foundation work has begun at 61 Bond Street in Boerum Hill, where GB Lodging is building a new 13-story, 285 room hotel.
Located on the corner of Schermerhorn Street, the 157,000-square-foot development will feature retail space and a restaurant on the ground floor as well as a hotel lobby bar, coffee shop, and a winter garden, according to New York Yimby. The second and third floors will house an event space and business center while hotel rooms will fill the fourth to thirteenth floors. 61 Bond Street is scheduled to open in late 2018.
The project has a tragic history. In October 2016, a construction worker was drilling piles at the site when a piece of machinery fell and hit him on the head, killing him, The Real Deal reports.
61 Bond Street is the latest hotel project planned for the area. A new 100-room hotel is slated for 291 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn and Gowanus Inn & Yard is scheduled to debut a short distance south at 645-651 Union Street this summer.
