New 11-Story Apartment Building Coming To 4th Avenue
Yet another tall apartment building is coming to 4th Avenue. Filings for the 18-unit, 11-story building planned for 153 4th Avenue, between Douglass and Degraw, were spotted by BuzzBuzzHome, which notes the current 3-story building has a doctor’s office on the first floor.
Turns out the owner is the doctor in that office, and he’s got big plans for that space and the one next door. DNAinfo spoke with owners Muhammad Tahir and his son Imran, who say that both 153 and 155 4th Ave will be demolished to accommodate the new building. Muhammad bought 153 in 1996, then he and his son purchased the building next door in 2008 for $1.03 million, with hopes to launch the development then, but the poor state of the economy held the project off until now.
They’ve hired S3 Architecture to work on the project, and you can see renderings for the modern glass building with balconies overlooking 4th Ave here.
After taking a look at another new building coming to this strip — the 75-unit rental building set to replace the McDonald’s at 1st Street — the majority of respondents in our unscientific poll said they weren’t interested in living on 4th Avenue just yet. But with all the new options coming, what will it take for you to change your mind?
