Neighbors Warn Of Credit Cards Being Double Charged At Church Avenue B/Q Subway Station
Church Avenue B:Q subway station

Neighbors are raising the red flag about what they said are malfunctioning MTA MetroCard machines at both the Church Avenue B/Q subway station and the Church Avenue F/G station, though the MTA has said such problems do not exist.

Kensington resident Cherina Mastrantones first posted about the F station’s vending machine double charging credit cards, as well as not dispensing MetroCards but still charging for them, in the Kensington Facebook group.

Cherina said that late last week she went to refill her card, but the machine said it couldn’t read her zip code. After re-entering the number, Cherina went home – and realized that her card had been double charged.

We reached out to our neighbor about the incident, and she told us that she’s now disputing the charges with her credit card company.

Another neighbor said on the Kensington Facebook thread that she recently encountered a similar problem at the Church Avenue B/Q subway station as well, and neighbor Barbara told us her credit card has been double charged once in the past week after using it at the Church Avenue station.

The MTA told us that “upon investigation, there was no evidence of double charging or indication of a malfunction with the” MetroCard machines at either Church Avenue station.
