Neighbors Launch Kickstarter For Big City Cats Townhouses

Tired of having to choose between a carpet-covered behemoth, an obscenely-expensive designer home, and a straight up cardboard box for your fluffy-tailed housemate? Neighbors Jesse Levine and Dan Parkes feel your pain, which is why they (and model cat Soma of E 16th Street) want to bring stylish, sturdy and affordable cat dwellings to other feline fans in Ditmas Park and beyond.

The guys have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their company Big City Cats, and are aiming to raise money for their first production run this holiday season. Though their first cat townhouse model is reflective of the buildings that come to mind when most people think of “Brooklyn,” Jesse says Big City Cats is looking to do something a bit more Ditmas park-centric next.

“If this project is funded, we have several other ideas we are pretty excited about,” says Jesse. “We’ve already made a rough design of a subway car (naturally it will be the F or Q train) and are toying with the idea of some sort of Victorian-style design, although the specs have yet to be worked out.”

Incentives for contributors including cat air fresheners, drink koozies, tote bags, and, of course, townhouses. Oh, and if you contribute $350 or more, Jesse and Dan will come to your house, conduct a feline photo shoot, and make your cat even more internet famous than he or she already is–unless one of these is your cat. Then sorry, but there’s nowhere to go but down.

The campaign wraps up December 8, so check it out and see if it’s of interest to you and Mittens.
