Neighbors Frustrated Over Abandoned Flyers On 11th Street
flyer trash

We received the following email from a neighbor last week regarding flyers on 11th Street:

You think Zito’s would know better as a former resident of the neighborhood, but I guess not. They heavily flyer-ed 11th street (the Mayor’s block) between 6th and 7th (and I am sure the surrounding blocks as well). Now all of their flyers are coating the sidewalks and causing an eyesore. They should be issued a summons for littering, it’s a ridiculous practice.

According to 311:

You can report streets and sidewalks that are the target of chronic littering. The City does not respond to reports of a one-time occurrence. People caught littering may get a summons. Property owners are responsible for cleaning litter from public areas next to their property even if a chronic littering report has been filed.

Is this a problem across South Slope? If you have one of the Civic Council’s no ads or menus signs on your building, has it made a difference, or do those placing flyers just find other places to stick them?
