Neighbor Mugged Yesterday Afternoon on Rugby Road

Neighbor Michael wrote in about being mugged by two young men yesterday at 4pm on Rugby Road, between Dorchester and Ditmas:

I was walking from the laundromat on Newkirk up to a friend’s house one block up. I had ear buds in and I didn’t notice two kids behind me. One of them tapped my shoulder and asked for the time, I told him, then he clocked me. I got hit three times all together, bloodied up pretty bad, and they took my iPod and cell phone but missed my wallet. Then they ran up Rugby.
I got to my friend’s house and he called the police. Made a report, I needed nine stitches, got a shiner, but otherwise I’m fine. Just wanted you to let neighbors know to be cautious.

As we noted earlier this week, crime starts to increase in the warm weather. I know it’s nothing you haven’t heard a million times before, but do what you can to be aware of your surroundings when you’re walking around by yourself.

If you’re the victim of a crime, always report the incident to the police by calling 911. And please consider alerting your neighbors by sending us an email at ditmasparkcorner@gmail.com or by filling out the form on our crime map page with the details, including date, approximate time, and what happened.
